The USA covers the fuel costs of its military aviation
Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov clarified the funding for flights of US military aircraft from Sofia Airport. During parliamentary control, he was categorical:
"The USA always pays the fuel costs for the flights of its military aircraft taking off from Sofia Airport".

The question was raised by Member of Parliament Ivelin Parvanov from "Vazrazhdane" in connection with upcoming international exercises involving allied forces. Stoyanov explained the procedure for the period February-June 2026, dismissing concerns about the use of Bulgarian budget funds for foreign military needs.
