Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov sent his message to the nation on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria, emphasizing that unity is the surest path to well-being and prosperity. The greeting was published on the official government Facebook page, and in it, the prime minister calls on citizens to draw inspiration from the historical act that united the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia.

In his publication, Rosen Zhelyazkov points out that history has repeatedly proven that "unity is the most correct choice that brings prosperity to our country and to all of us." He notes that when Bulgarians are together and unite their efforts with a sense of responsibility for the common future, a horizon is revealed for the country that "steadily charts Bulgaria's future prosperity."

According to the prime minister, this glorious page of Bulgarian history not only carries "a powerful patriotic charge," but also remains "a timeless example of strong popular will and statesmanship." He pays tribute to the "heroes and revolutionaries," whose work is the foundation of the unification. According to him, their sense of justice and national belonging gave them "the courage, strength, and bravery to put the interests of Bulgaria above all else."

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Unification, solemn ceremonies are being held throughout the country, gathering thousands of people to honor the memory of their ancestors. The culmination of the celebrations will traditionally be in Plovdiv, where a large part of the historical drama unfolded.
