The Varna Administrative Court has initiated a case against the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in the city, due to a silent refusal regarding the case of Mayor Blagomir Kotsev. The appeal was filed because of the silent non-acceptance of an opinion on the issue of the mayor's powers.

The silence of the MEC - Varna is assessed as an unlawful refusal to fulfill their obligation under the Local Self-Government Act.

The deadline for a decision is 14 days, and appeals regarding Kotsev's vacations were filed in November, followed by a reminder in January. The appeals were filed by Bilyana Yakova, former project manager of the integrated urban project.

The MEC scheduled two meetings that did not lead to a decision, but provoked protests.
