Direct trains from Romania to Bulgaria and Turkey
CFR Calatori, the national railway operator of Romania, has delighted travelers with the resumption of its seasonal international lines. Until October 12, trains connecting Bucharest with Varna, Sofia, and Istanbul will run daily.
This initiative is part of the European trend of seeking alternatives to short-haul flights and increasing interest in rail travel.
Schedule and destinations
- Bucharest – Varna: The train departs from Bucharest North at 10:46 AM and arrives in Varna at 7:56 PM (a duration of about 9 hours and 10 minutes).
- Return trip: From Varna, the train departs at 9:30 AM and arrives in Bucharest at 4:56 PM.
Important ticket information
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased up to 90 days in advance. You can get them online through the official CFR Calatori website or at ticket offices serving international lines. Second-class prices to Varna start from 27 euros one way, and the routes are fully accessible to Interrail pass holders.
