Expert assessments reveal the unprecedented severity of the Russian military campaign in 2025. The period from May 1st to early July is emerging as the bloodiest stage of the conflict, with extremely high human losses for the Russian armed forces.

According to independent researchers and Western intelligence sources, Russian irretrievable losses range between 900,000 and 1.3 million military personnel. Killed military personnel reach between 190,000 and 350,000, representing an unprecedented scale of human casualties.

Paradoxically, despite the massive offensive, territorial gains are extremely modest. Statistics show an average of 0.038 square kilometers of captured territory per fallen soldier, which calls into question the effectiveness of the military strategy.

At the current pace of offensive, fully occupying the four annexed regions would take about 4 years, while conquering the entire Ukraine would take nearly 90 years. These calculations are based on NASA satellite images, analyses by independent experts, and assessments by Western authorities.

Ukrainian military losses are estimated between 73,000 and 140,000 people, according to the specialized project UALosses, which completes the large-scale picture of the military conflict.
