Overnight, Russian occupation forces carried out another massive attack against "Ukraine" using a combined missile and drone assault. According to official information, the strike was carried out with a total of eight missiles and 142 unmanned aerial vehicles, with "Kyiv" and the "Dnipropetrovsk region" being among the most heavily affected areas. There are casualties in the Ukrainian capital, and fires have broken out in several locations.
According to the Air Force of Ukraine, Russia used various types of weaponry. The attack involved two "Zircon" or "Oniks" anti-ship missiles, six "Iskander-M"/S-400 ballistic missiles, as well as 142 drones of various models and purposes. This mix of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles demonstrates a desire to maximize the strain on Ukrainian air defenses and complicate their response.
Despite the scale of the attack, Ukrainian air defense responded effectively. It is officially reported that all ballistic missiles were shot down or neutralized, as well as one of the anti-ship missiles. Out of 142 drones, 125 were destroyed or neutralized, which indicates a high degree of preparation and coordination of the defense. Nevertheless, it was not possible to completely prevent damage.
Hits from one missile and 14 drones were registered in 11 different locations across the country. In addition, falling debris was reported in 13 other locations, which further increases the number of affected sites and complicates damage assessment. At the time the information was released, several enemy drones were still in Ukrainian airspace, meaning that the air raid alert had not fully ended.
The main targets of the Russian attack were the capital "Kyiv" and the "Dnipropetrovsk region". Missiles were directed at Kyiv, and numerous drones attacked infrastructure in various districts of the city. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, strikes were recorded on critical and civil infrastructure facilities, including gas stations, indicating an aim to deliver an economic and psychological blow to the population.
The Kyiv City Military Administration reported fires in the "Darnytskyi district" of the capital. A non-residential building and an auto repair shop were burning there, with fire and emergency teams working on the scene. According to the latest data, two people were injured, and information about their condition is being clarified. These incidents highlight that although a large part of the aerial targets were shot down, the consequences of the attack remain serious for the civilian population.
In the "Dnipropetrovsk region", Russian forces attacked gas stations in two districts – "Dniprovskyi" and "Samarovskyi". As a result of the hits, fires broke out, which, according to local authorities, have already been extinguished. Damage to buildings and infrastructure is being assessed, while checks for possible casualties or additional damage near the affected objects are also underway.
The massive night strike with missiles and over 140 drones once again tests the Ukrainian air defense system and the readiness of response services for such attacks. The successful downing of all ballistic missiles and a large portion of the drones limits the scale of destruction, but at the same time shows that Russian forces continue to use combined strikes against military and civilian targets. For the population in Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region, the night was another one spent under the sound of sirens and in anticipation of new strikes.
