Honorary citizen of Burgas and beloved Bulgarian actor Rusi Chanev made a valuable donation to the schools in Burgas, providing 60 books from the adapted for children edition of the classic novel "Under the Yoke" by Ivan Vazov. The initiative aims to encourage young readers' interest in Bulgarian literature and national memory.

The adapted edition was presented to the Burgas audience last March in the Center for Contemporary Art and Library and was met with great interest. The event was organized with the assistance of Burgas Municipality, the Bulgarian National Radio and "City Mark Art Center" on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of Ivan Vazov's birth. The moderator of the meeting was the journalist and literary critic Mitko Novkov, and the audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with the idea and the long creative path of the project.

Rusi Chanev shared in Burgas that he worked on the adaptation of "Under the Yoke" for seven years together with his daughter Boya Chanev - a linguist. The edition is aimed at children aged 9 to 14 years, with a special focus on Bulgarians living abroad. The book is richly illustrated with works by young artists from art schools and includes an audio series, voiced by Chanev himself, which is also available on the BNR website.

The respected and beloved actor was a special guest at the city holiday - Nikulden, when he was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Burgas.
