International recognition for ecology and safety
The fishing port in the Sarafovo district of Burgas has been awarded the "Blue Flag" eco-label for yet another year. The recognition comes after a rigorous assessment by the program's national and international juries in Copenhagen, which confirmed that the facility meets the highest criteria for environmental quality, infrastructure, and sustainable management.
"The award is proof of the efforts of the Municipality of Burgas in developing port infrastructure and protecting the marine ecosystem," emphasized the local administration.
Modernization and amenities in Sarafovo
Since its opening in 2013, the port has undergone significant development. Today it offers:
- Over 130 berths for boats and yachts;
- An automated fuel station for vessels;
- Power supply, water supply, and wireless internet systems;
- Modern wastewater treatment facilities and video surveillance.
Besides being an important center for the fishing industry, the port has also established itself as a preferred place for walks. Located near the piers is the "Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker" chapel, which serves as a spiritual hub for local fishermen and sailors.
We remind you that the fishing port in Sarafovo was the first Bulgarian project under the "Fisheries" Operational Program, which set new standards for modernization in the sector with an investment of nearly 11 million BGN.
