For the upcoming nights of September 9 and 10, drivers on the Trakia motorway should prepare for temporary changes in traffic organization. Planned repair works, which are essential for road safety, will be carried out in a critical section, the "Trayanovi vrata" tunnel. The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) announced that the activities will affect the tube leading to Sofia and urges drivers to exercise increased caution and strictly follow the road signs.

The work on the tunnel is divided into two consecutive stages to minimize inconvenience for travelers. The first stage will begin on Tuesday, September 9, at 8:00 PM and will continue until 6:00 AM on Wednesday, September 10. During this interval, teams will focus on cleaning and painting the walls of the tube in the direction of the capital. Therefore, passage through it will be completely restricted to traffic.

On the following night, from 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, until 6:00 AM on Thursday, September 11, the second stage will be carried out, which will also include painting the walls of the same tube. During these activities, traffic for both directions – Sofia and Burgas – will be temporarily rerouted into the tube for Burgas. This means that traffic will be two-way, requiring additional concentration from drivers.

Maintenance for Road Safety

These repair works are part of a series of measures that the RIA is undertaking to maintain the road infrastructure in optimal condition. Just a few days ago, on the night of September 3 and 4, similar activities were carried out in the tunnel tube in the direction of Burgas. The institution emphasizes that periodic cleaning of such facilities is vital for ensuring good visibility and overall road safety.

With the Trakia motorway being a busy route, the RIA appeals to all drivers to show a high degree of responsibility. The advice is to strictly follow the posted road signs, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and drive at a speed appropriate for the road conditions. It is especially important to avoid risky maneuvers such as overtaking, which could endanger not only personal safety but also the safety of all other road users.
