Why is the repair of the An-30 delayed?

The contract for the major overhaul of the Bulgarian An-30 transport aircraft with the Ukrainian company "Ukrainmash" has been extended until August 2, 2026. This was announced by the Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov during parliamentary control.

"The execution of the contract has been seriously hindered by force majeure circumstances – first the COVID-19 pandemic, and then the martial law in Ukraine," the minister explained.

Financial guarantees

Minister Stoyanov emphasized that the financial risk is fully secured through valid bank guarantees and insurance policies, which are in effect until September 2026. He categorically refuted speculations that the aircraft is being used by Ukraine, calling these claims "absolutely false."
