Full Change to Traffic from 10:00 PM on September 11 to 6:00 AM on September 12
Traffic restrictions are being introduced in the Malo Buchino tunnel on the Struma Motorway in connection with urgent repair works. On the night of Thursday to Friday, traffic will be redirected to ensure the safety of travelers and to carry out the planned painting of the tunnel walls.
According to the official announcement, the full traffic restriction will be in effect from 10:00 PM on September 11 until 6:00 AM on September 12. During this period, the tunnel tube in the direction of Pernik will be completely closed. To avoid a complete traffic halt, vehicles will pass in both directions in the opposite tube, which leads to Sofia. This organization is being introduced with the aim of minimizing inconvenience for drivers, especially given that the repair is scheduled for the hours with the lowest traffic intensity.
Similar measures for the maintenance of road infrastructure are applied periodically and are of key importance for ensuring better visibility and safety for all road users. Regular cleaning and painting of tunnel walls improves lighting and assists drivers in conditions of limited space.
API Calls for Increased Attention and Rule Compliance
The Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) is making a special appeal to drivers who will be traveling on the route during the night. The agency insists that everyone strictly comply with the placed temporary road signs and exercise increased caution.
"We urge drivers to drive carefully, to maintain the necessary distance, and to travel at a reasonable speed. They should not undertake risky overtakes that endanger their own safety and that of all other travelers."
For additional information about the real-time road situation, citizens and transport companies can contact the 24-hour information line of RIA at 0700 130 20. Current information is also available on the official website of the agency: www.api.bg.
