Minister of Regional Development and Public Works in resignation Ivan Ivanov announced record revenue collection from road tolls, exceeding 1 billion leva. This impressive sum has been achieved thanks to the measures taken by the National Toll Administration, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API), and legislative changes.

Eng. Yordan Valchev, Chairman of the API's Management Board, stressed that the internal revenues of API are also record high, exceeding 100 million leva. The agency is ready for the winter maintenance of the republican road network, and the suspension of the movement of heavy goods vehicles during the holidays is planned to ease traffic.

Eng. Oleg Asenov, Head of the National Toll Administration, explained that the operational efficiency of the system is over 90%. The number of inspections has increased to 265,000 per year, and the collection from compensatory mechanisms has increased by over 30%. He emphasized the importance of integration with the NRA and the Customs Agency for the exchange of information and improved control. Asenov mentioned the activation of the functionalities of the toll system, as well as the procedure for calibrating the weighing scales.

Minister Ivanov reminded of the responsibility of the National Toll Administration for the construction of control points on the Schengen borders, with the first two points to be opened by the end of the year and after the New Year, and 12 will be ready by March.

In response to a journalist's question, Valchev announced plans to restrict the traffic of heavy goods vehicles during the holidays to ease traffic.
