The Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Moldova revealed shocking details about an internationally wanted oligarchic figure who has used false identities. During a joint press conference, Prime Ministers Rosen Zhelyazkov and Dorin Rechan disclosed the scale of the case, which directly affects national security.
According to official information, Vladimir Plahotnyuk applied for Bulgarian documents as early as 2004 under different names - initially as Mikhail Tawandji, and subsequently as Mikhail Teoshanov. Despite the initial negative opinion of the National Security Service, identity documents were still issued.
Zhelyazkov emphasized the exceptional complexity of the case, which involves the institutions of three countries - Bulgaria, Moldova, and Greece. Currently, a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine whether it is the same physical person or completely different identities.
The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Rechan, was categorical in his position that Plahotnyuk represents a serious threat. "He possesses multiple false documents, which eloquently demonstrates his criminal behavior pattern," Rechan stated and added that all necessary legal actions will be taken.
A key moment in the investigation are the planned sanctions by the European Union, which include freezing assets and bank accounts within the union's territory. Moldova will take identical measures against the sought-after individual.
Zhelyazkov emphasized the danger of oligarchic infrastructures, which represent a direct channel for hybrid propaganda and destabilization of democratic processes. The case of Plahotnyuk is considered a telling example of such risks.
The investigation continues, with institutions from the three countries working in close coordination to clarify all circumstances surrounding the multi-layered identity of the sought-after individual.
