Scandals and penalties in the plenary hall
Tensions in the National Assembly escalated during the discussion on amendments to the law regarding the special manager of "Lukoil". "Vazrazhdane" MPs Boris Aladzhov and Kostadin Kostadinov were penalized with a "reprimand" for using inadmissible remarks directed at Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
The President of the National Assembly, Mihaela Dotsova, adjourned the session for 30 minutes after cameras captured a confrontation between Kostadin Kostadinov and Petar Stoychev from "Progressive Bulgaria".
Legislative dispute
Parliament is reviewing two bills to amend the Law on Administrative Regulation of Economic Activities Related to Oil and Petroleum Products. The changes are necessary following a Constitutional Court decision from July 21, which declared the provisions for appointing a special manager in critical infrastructure unconstitutional.
The position of "Vazrazhdane"
- Kostadin Kostadinov denied that there was any physical altercation.
- The leader of "Vazrazhdane" accused his opponents of attempting to trample on parliamentary rules.
- Proposals between the first and second reading of the amendments are expected.
After the short break, "Progressive Bulgaria" requested an additional adjournment of the session, which intensified the sense of political instability in the hall.
