President Rumen Radev commented on the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which took place in Alaska, describing it as a restoration of dialogue and hope for peace. His comment comes against the backdrop of tensions in international relations and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The head of state made his statement during the annual National Assembly in the area of "Petrova niva" above Malko Tarnovo, dedicated to the 122nd anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising.

The event, organized by the Thracian societies, is a traditional occasion to pay tribute to the heroes who died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria. This year, the culmination of the assembly was a solemn firework display, which was personally received by the president. Taking advantage of the moment, Radev sent a message to the international community and to the Bulgarian government.

Criticism of the Government

The meeting in Alaska restores dialogue and the hope for peace for all of us. But here we have yet to observe the metamorphoses, including of the Bulgarian rulers, who are mired in the naive persistence of imposing peace through force. This approach leads to even more destruction, victims in Ukraine, and an even greater loss of territories.

These words are perceived as direct criticism of the position of the Bulgarian government, which, according to him, has joined a strategy leading to escalation, not de-escalation of the conflict.

In addition, Rumen Radev also addressed domestic political issues, responding to the attacks of Boyko Borisov, who accused him of political cooperation with the parties "We Continue the Change" and "DPS-New Beginning". The president rejected the accusations and described them as an attempt by the rulers to divert public attention from their own failures.

To cover up their helplessness in controlling inflation, the crises, the confusion surrounding the very sale of state properties, the authorities are orchestrating scandals.

Radev called these scandals a "smokescreen". According to him, this tactic fails to withstand the "onslaught of facts" and cannot provide an answer to a number of important questions concerning the country's economic and financial state.

He finished his statement by noting that these questions require an answer, along with other upcoming deals, such as "the purchase of a gas station".
