President Rumen Radev expressed his opinion on the current situation in Ukraine and Donald Trump's peace proposal, during the "AFCEA TechNET Sofia 2025" forum.
Radev stressed that, in his opinion, the situation on the battlefield is developing unfavorably for Ukraine, and warned that if we do not take advantage of the present moment, the next negotiations could be under much less favorable conditions and after even more victims.
The President noted that the new proposals from Europe, just like those of Trump, take the current front line as a starting point, which means that negotiations will be held over territories.
"The peace treaty is written by the victors and I strongly hope that this time we will not prove this historical maxim, in order to prevent new victims and destruction," he said.
Radev also commented on the domestic political situation, criticizing the "Magnitsky" coalition, accusing it of "reaching into the pockets of Bulgarians and pouring money into Ukraine, while its defense lines are crumbling and corruption scandals are erupting in Kyiv."
Regarding Bulgaria's role in the negotiations, Radev stated that in order to play such a role, the country must have a clear position, giving the example of wavering politicians.
"Some politicians yesterday kissed the Ukrainian flag, and today they either remove it or put it back. Sad work," added Rumen Radev.
