Three people have lost their lives, and 22 have been injured in serious road accidents in the country during the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MIA) announced on its official website. The data reflect the grim reality of the roads in the country, where tragic incidents continue to claim human lives and cause suffering.

In the past 24 hours, a total of 22 serious accidents with casualties have been registered, which underlines the need for increased attention and observance of traffic rules.

In the capital, Sofia, the situation has also not been calm. 36 minor accidents have been registered, and fortunately, there have been no fatalities. However, three people have been injured, one of whom is in critical condition, which worries doctors and relatives.

The statistics for the current month are also alarming. Since the beginning of the month, a total of 485 accidents have been reported. Unfortunately, 41 people have died in these incidents, and 587 have been injured.

Comparing the data over a longer period, the picture becomes even more worrying. Since the beginning of the year, the total number of road accidents has reached 5621. Shockingly, 370 people have lost their lives, and 6998 have been injured.

The MIA also points out that when comparing with the same period of the previous year, a slight decrease in the number of fatalities is observed. During the same period of 2024, 371 deaths on the road were registered, while for the same period of 2025, the number has decreased by one, which represents only a barely noticeable progress. The situation still remains serious and requires the undertaking of additional measures to improve road safety.
