Inspection in Aytos: Cultural Heritage Items Found in a Vehicle

A police inspection in the village of Karageorgievo, Aytos, led to the discovery of items suspected to be cultural heritage. Coins, jewelry, and a metal detector were seized and sent for expert examination. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated.

Police officers from the Regional Police Department - Ministry of Interior Aytos conducted a check in the village of Karageorgievo on a "Toyota Rav 4" car. The car, registered in Burgas, was driven by a 46-year-old man, a resident of the village.

The operation, undertaken in the settlement, caused a stir among the few people present nearby, who apparently did not expect such a check.

During the search of the car, the officers found and seized a metal detector and a metal ring. After that, the check was moved to the man's home, where the finds were significantly more. 18 coins of different types and sizes were seized from the house. The smallest coin had a diameter of only 1 centimeter, while the largest reached 3.5 centimeters. In addition to the coins, two metal round washers with a hole in the middle were also found, as well as two metal jewelry pieces.

Also, the police seized a metal decoration resembling a leaf, a metal button with a hook for fastening, with an image of a crown. The list of seized items continues with another 14 metal objects, representing jewelry and parts of jewelry with different shapes and sizes.

The type of metal objects found, according to preliminary assessments, suggests that they may be classified as cultural and historical values. For this reason, they have been provided for expert examination at the Burgas Historical Museum. Experts will have to determine their exact purpose and historical value.

The case sparked great interest among the local population, who curiously followed the development of events.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in the case, which is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Burgas. For the moment, no further details are known regarding the course of the investigation.
