Varna is shaken by ongoing protests in support of the detained mayor, Blagomir Kotsev, while the legal battle for his freedom continues.

Today, for the 12th consecutive time, protesters gathered in front of the Varna Municipality building, expressing their anger and disagreement with the detention of their elected leader. The atmosphere in front of the municipality is tense, with the presence of citizens determined to express their dissatisfaction.

Last week, the Sofia Court of Appeal made a decision for a lighter pre-trial measure – "house arrest" – for two municipal councilors detained on the same charge. This decision sparked hopes among Kotsev's supporters, but at the same time raised questions about future court actions.

On October 10, Blagomir Kotsev's defense took a step that could prove crucial by filing a request for a review of the mayor's pre-trial measure. Unfortunately, the Sofia City Court, after another hearing, decided to keep Kotsev in custody. This decision caused outrage among the protesters.

According to the protesters, the detention of Blagomir Kotsev represents a direct interference in the democratic process and violates the vote of the people of Varna. They are convinced that this is an attempt to replace the will of the voters.

Today's protest does not end in front of the municipality. It continues with a procession to "Independence" Square and will end in front of the Court of Justice, where those present will again make their appeal for justice.

On October 16, a decisive date is coming. Then, Blagomir Kotsev's measure will be appealed before the Sofia Court of Appeal. The outcome of this appeal will determine the future of the mayor and may have a significant impact on the political situation in Varna.
