Residents of Nesebar Municipality gathered to protest against a proposal introduced by the administration to increase the property tax, chanting “Resign.” The demonstration took place in front of the Municipal Council building, where the councilors are currently holding their regular meeting.

The organizers of the protest from “Yes, Bulgaria” explained that the discontent is also caused by the way the funds from the budget of the seaside municipality are spent. Angelina Doseva, chairperson of the local structure of “Yes, Bulgaria”, commented that the citizens are against raising taxes, as it has not been discussed with the public and there are no explanations from the Municipality. She added that they do not see real benefits for businesses and are wondering how this will affect small and medium-sized traders and people with tourist facilities.

Residents of several settlements participated in the protest, holding up placards with inscriptions such as “Jail for the thieves” and throwing eggs at the Municipal Council building.

A protest also began in Pomorie against the already taken decision to increase the tax rate on property tax, taken at the last session of the Municipal Council - Pomorie in November. The protest is organized by the civic initiative “We Don't Stay Silent” and the “Budno Pomorie” Association, which submitted a petition to the regional governor of Burgas Region, requesting a ruling from the Administrative Court in Burgas.
