The lowest temperatures in March in the country will be between minus 7 and minus 2 degrees, and the highest – between 21 and 26 degrees, Mariana Popova – on-duty meteorologist at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), announced to BTA, presenting the weather forecast for March.

Monthly temperatures will be around the March average, and rainfall – around and below average

This year, in March, the average monthly temperature is expected to be around and above the average, which in Northern Bulgaria and on the high plains is between 5 and 7 degrees, on the Black Sea coast and in Southern Bulgaria – between 6 and 9 degrees, and in the mountains – between minus 8 and minus 2 degrees.

The monthly sum of precipitation will be around and below average, which in the plains is between 40 and 60 liters per square meter, and in the mountains – between 50 and 90 liters per square meter.

March will start with sunny weather and temperatures around 15 degrees

The month will start with mostly sunny and warm weather, with maximum temperatures reaching, and in places exceeding, 15 degrees. Temperatures will remain lower on the Black Sea coast and in places in lowlands and valleys, where there will be low cloud cover or fog before noon.

Around March 3 and towards March 5–6, there will be more significant increases in cloud cover, but without significant rainfall, and daytime temperatures will slightly decrease.

Towards the end of the ten-day period, a change in atmospheric circulation will occur and the dynamics will increase. There will be rainfall and cooling. There is a small probability that the rainfall will be significant in places. Initially, above about 1500–1600 meters, it will snow, but gradually the rain–snow boundary will decrease. An uneven and short-lived snow cover will form.

During the second ten-day period, there is a probability of rainfall around March 19

At the beginning of the second ten-day period, the probability of rainfall is small. There will be both sunny hours and temporary increases in cloud cover. Temperatures will be close to and slightly higher than usual.

Around the middle of the period, the probability of a synoptic situation with rainfall in more places in the country increases. A decrease in temperatures is also expected.

During the second half of the ten-day period, there will be more significant breaks and reductions in cloud cover, during most days and up to sunny weather. It will also be warmer. There is also an increased probability of rainfall around March 19.

Astronomical spring begins on March 20 at 4:46 PM

And during the third ten-day period, the prospects for temperatures are to be close to the climatic norms. The period is expected to start with more sunny hours in most of the country.

After March 23, it will be variable, with frequent rainfall. It is possible that there will also be situations with more intense and significant amounts of precipitation.
