Today will bring slight relief from the heat, but summer remains in full force. Daily temperatures are expected to drop slightly, with maximums in most of the country between 30° and 36°, and around 30° in "Sofia". Despite the lower values, the feeling of hot weather persists, especially during the midday hours.
Morning rain over the Danubian Plain, more sun in the south
Before noon, rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in the "Danubian Plain". Over the rest of the country, sunny weather will prevail in the morning, with clearer skies and good visibility. Gradually, as the day progresses, atmospheric instability will increase in the western and central regions.
Afternoon: thunderstorms in the western, central, and northeastern regions
Around and after noon, cumulo-nimbus clouds will develop in many places in the "western", "central", and "northeastern" parts of the country. There will be brief but at times intense rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorm activity. In "Southeastern Bulgaria", the weather will remain mostly sunny, with a lower probability of precipitation.
During the day, a light to moderate "east wind" will blow, bringing relatively fresher air, but it will not be enough to noticeably lower temperatures.
Along the Black Sea coast: sunny and suitable for the beach
Along the "Black Sea coast", the weather will be mostly sunny, especially along the southern coast. Temporary cloudiness is expected over the "Northern Black Sea coast", but it will be short-lived and without significant rainfall.
A moderate east wind will blow, creating a pleasant feeling by the sea. Maximum temperatures along the coast will be between 29° and 32°. The "sea water temperature" will remain in the pleasant summer range of 25°–26°, and the "sea state" will be from 1–2 on the Douglas scale along the northern coast to 2–3 along the southern – conditions are favorable for swimming, while observing the lifeguards' instructions.
The mountains: afternoon storms and strong east wind on the ridges
In the "mountainous regions", the day will start relatively calmly, but in the afternoon hours, more significant cumulus and cumulo-nimbus clouds will develop. In many places in the mountains, there will be brief rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Under such conditions, the risk of lightning strikes on open ridges and peaks increases, so it is recommended to start early and descend quickly from high parts at the first signs of a storm.
A moderate wind will blow, and on the high ridges and peaks – a "strong east wind". The "maximum temperature" at about 1200 meters will be around 25°, and at 2000 meters – around 17°, which means cooler, but unstable weather in the high parts.
What to expect in the coming days
In the coming days, the development of cumulo-nimbus clouds will continue, with rainfall and thunderstorms remaining frequent, especially on "Thursday" and "Friday". In some areas, temporarily intense rainfall and more significant amounts of rain are expected, and in some places, there will be conditions for "hail".
Temperatures will gradually decrease, and by "Saturday" the maximum values will be between 25° and 30°, which will bring a more noticeable cooling compared to the beginning of the week.
Sunday and the beginning of next week
On "Sunday", the weather will be mostly sunny, with more sun before noon. Around and after noon, there will be "more significant increases in cloudiness", but without expectations for widespread rain.
On "Monday", the probability of "isolated brief showers" and thunderstorms will increase again, mainly in the afternoon hours and in the mountainous and inland regions. The wind will remain "light from the northwest", which will maintain relatively cooler and more tolerable summer temperatures.
