Project "Climate-Smart Pomorie" – a step towards a sustainable future
Pomorie is on its way to a sustainable future with an innovative European project that will focus on climate challenges and long-term adaptation. Today, at the building of the local administration, an introductory press conference was held, which gave the official start to the initiative "Climate-Smart Pomorie: mapping a sustainable future."
In an atmosphere of serious discussion, representatives of the municipality and experts outlined the key goals of the project. They emphasized the growing need to increase public knowledge and awareness of the climate risks affecting the region. The initiative aims not to be just another study, but to provide concrete tools to support local policies and build greater climate resilience for the community. This will be possible through an in-depth assessment of multi-level climate change risk and the development of targeted adaptation strategies.
The municipality expects the results of the project to have a tangible impact. First and foremost, they will lead to an increase in general awareness and strengthen community resilience. To achieve this, specialized informational materials will be developed and distributed. In a scientific and technical aspect, the project will make a key contribution by completing a multi-risk climate assessment based on the CLIMAAX methodology, which is at the heart of the European project.
One of the most important practical results will be the creation of high-resolution GIS maps. These detailed cartographic data will allow the local administration to visualize and analyze potential climate threats with unprecedented accuracy. In addition, local data sets will be generated to improve risk analysis and enable the use of climate models and scenario simulations. These tools will be crucial for assessing the long-term impact of climate change on Pomorie, providing the municipality with the opportunity to predict and prepare for future challenges.
