Budget 2026: A New Financial Strategy
Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced that the state budget deficit for 2026 will exceed 3%. The cabinet's main focus is on changing the philosophy of budgeting, which has hitherto been based on unsustainable expenditure growth.
"Our greatest challenge is to change the philosophy of the budget and the trajectory of planning, instead of relying on financial gymnastics," stated Radev.
Key Measures and Incomes
- Preserving incomes: The government categorically rejects reducing the salaries of workers.
- Optimization: Actual reductions in salaries and staff numbers will affect only limited circles within the management of state-owned enterprises and audit committees.
- Administrative reform: The analysis of the efficiency of units continues, focusing on digitalization and automation, without mass purges.
Cooperation with the USA
Radev confirmed that American military aircraft will remain at "Vasil Levski" airport until the end of June. The Prime Minister emphasized that the USA remains a strategic partner of Bulgaria in the fields of energy, economy, and high technology.
