Expected vote on government: Rumen Radev presents draft cabinet
Today marks a key moment for the 52nd National Assembly – the vote on a draft cabinet with prime ministerial candidate Rumen Radev, nominated by "Progressive Bulgaria". President Iliana Iotova has already handed over the first exploratory mandate, which was returned fulfilled in record time.
"We are carrying out this reform to optimize the work of the government, improve conditions for business, and accelerate digitalization," noted Rumen Radev.
Structural changes in the administration
The proposed structure includes four deputy prime ministers and 18 ministries. A key change is the restructuring of three departments – economy, innovation, and electronic governance – which will be merged into two. According to Radev, this is a step toward real layoffs and more efficient management of investments.
Political attitudes before the vote
- Against: GERB-SDS, "Democratic Bulgaria", "We Continue the Change", and "Vazrazhdane" stated that they will not support the cabinet.
- No position: DPS has not yet officially commented on their support.
- Majority: "Progressive Bulgaria" has 131 deputies, which is a mathematical majority for the election of a government.
If the candidacy is approved, an official oath and transfer of power at the Council of Ministers will follow. The agenda of the National Assembly also includes the creation of temporary committees on budget, finance, and legal affairs.
