Heavy battle with fire continues in "Rila" National Park

The fight against the blazing fire in the heart of "Rila" National Park continues with dramatic intensity. Today, for yet another day, a massive group of approximately 70 people is tirelessly battling the flames that threaten one of the country's most valuable natural areas. The teams, consisting of firefighters, forestry workers, military units, volunteers, and experts from the park's directorate, are working in unison to limit the spread of the fire and prevent it from encompassing new, pristine territories.

According to information from the scene, the situation remains most critical on the northern front of the fire. The terrain there is extremely difficult to access, characterized by a high, rocky surface, which further complicates the efforts of the ground teams. The flames are mainly engulfing dry grasses and juniper – vegetation that is extremely quick to ignite and fuels the fire. From the site of the incident, thick smoke can be seen rising above the treetops, whose silhouettes stand out against the otherwise clear sky, attesting to the fury of the element.

Hopes for bringing the situation under control are also directed toward the sky. Air support is expected to join the extinguishing operations, providing a decisive advantage in the fight against the flames by reaching the hard-to-access sections that are unreachable for the ground teams. The tension is palpable, as every hour is crucial for the fate of the nature reserve.
