Eight people have been arrested in a specialized police operation in Karnobat for vote buying.
A total of 13 people were checked, and six pre-trial proceedings have been initiated against five of them. Most of them are for crimes related to violation of citizens' electoral rights, and one is for possession of narcotic substances.
During the operation, over 13,000 euros in cash were found, lists with names and sums against them, as well as photos of identity cards and debit cards. People who were offered money for a vote for a specific political party were also questioned.
During the searches, narcotic substances – cannabis and seeds for growing marijuana were also seized.
Work on the case continues.
