Varna – Senior Commissioner Krasen Torimacov, director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Varna, ordered an immediate investigation following the appearance of a video clip on social networks, which raises serious accusations of police violence. The clip, distributed online, sparked a wave of comments and concerns, forcing the authorities to take urgent measures to clarify the circumstances.
Currently, according to the available information, the incident occurred around 1:00 PM on November 2nd in the village of Sindel, Avren municipality. Officers from the "Specialized Police Forces" Sector were conducting a check on a car and its passengers. The situation at the scene is complicated, with about 40-50 local residents gathered at the scene, which leads to tension.
It turns out that the driver of the car did not possess a driver's license, nor identification documents. When the officers asked to detain him, he resisted. According to initial data, to prevent the arrest, a second person from the car intervened. In response to the resistance, the police used physical force and auxiliary means to detain him, acting within their powers.
The gathering of a large number of people at the scene forced the police to stop the check and the detention. Additional police teams and an ambulance were sent to Sindel to restore public order. Despite the increased tension, the arriving emergency medical personnel did not find any injured persons at the scene.
However, around 3:00 PM, three people sought medical assistance. A team from the Emergency Medical Assistance Center responded to the call. They were examined and referred to "St. Anna" Hospital in Varna. After further examinations at the medical facility, the three were admitted to the neurosurgery department.
The investigation, which is currently underway, aims to establish all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. An investigative case has also been opened under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Varna. It is important to note that the actions of the police team were documented via a personal police camera, which was worn by one of the officers.
Additional information that may affect the investigation is that two of the persons who resisted during the incident were involved in an attack in 2021, in which two law enforcement officers performing their duties were injured. A pre-trial investigation was initiated against one of the persons at that time. The investigation is expected to be completed as soon as possible, shedding light on all aspects of what happened.
