A 63-year-old man, a former Interior Ministry employee, has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old youth. The District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv will request the strictest remand measure – "detention in custody".
"The perpetrator is cooperating with investigators, has confessed, and has indicated where the victim's body is," announced Senior Commissioner Vasil Kostadinov.
Investigation details
- The victim had been reported missing by his father on August 13.
- The two men knew each other, and the young man had been helping the perpetrator with livestock farming.
- The conflict arose on August 12 after the young man visited the 63-year-old man's home after midnight.
- The murder was committed with an illegally possessed air rifle, with two shots to the chest.
After the fatal shot, the perpetrator dismembered the body and hid it in a nearby manhole, attempting to cover his tracks. The victim had previous criminal records and convictions. Investigators are still working to determine the exact motive for the conflict.
