Police officer from Vratsa jailed for cocaine smuggling through "Kapitan Andreevo"

The Haskovo court approved a plea bargain for a 34-year-old Interior Ministry employee who attempted to smuggle 2 kg of cocaine worth nearly 250,000 euros, hidden inside a car battery.

Sentence for drug smuggling

The District Court in Haskovo has handed down a sentence of two years and four months of imprisonment to 34-year-old Desislava Pavlova from Vratsa. She pleaded guilty to the attempted smuggling of 2 kg of cocaine, valued at 248,822 euros, through the Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint.

Desislava Pavlova was a serving police officer at the time the crime was committed.

Case details

The sentence was imposed following a plea agreement between the prosecution and the defense, which was approved by the court. The case dates back to February 10, when, during an inspection of Pavlova's private vehicle while traveling to Turkey, customs officers discovered the narcotic substance hidden in the car's battery.

The decision of the Haskovo District Court is final and not subject to appeal.
