A working meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the Giro d’Italia - Bulgaria Grande Partenza 2026 cycling tour was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the participation of the Ministry of Tourism and representatives of all involved institutions. During the meeting, progress on the organization of the event was reported and key topics related to security, financing, marketing and promotion of Bulgaria as a tourist destination were discussed, as well as the establishment of our country as a host of sports events of the highest international rank, the tourism department announced.
As part of the preparations, the Ministry of Tourism is also working on a communication campaign, including the development of visual identity and a national advertising campaign, which will promote the event in the country.
The Minister of Youth and Sports in resignation, Ivan Peshev, emphasized the importance of coordination between institutions and the sustainable legacy of the event. Giro d’Italia - Bulgaria Grande Partenza 2026 is an exceptional opportunity for Bulgaria to establish itself as a host of sports events of the highest rank. “We are working in close cooperation with all involved institutions to ensure impeccable organization, security and excellent conditions for the competitors and the public. Our goal is not only the successful holding of the start, but also a long-term positive effect on the development of cycling and mass sports in our country,” Peshev said.
The Minister of Tourism in resignation, Miroslav Borshosh, emphasized the importance of the event for the country's image. “We must present Bulgaria in the best possible way. This is a success, but from now on we have a lot of work ahead of us. It is of extreme importance for us to present Bulgaria as a tourist destination with a wealth of natural resources,” he pointed out.
Giro d'Italia 2026 will include three stages in Bulgaria, covering more than 600 km and including many municipalities from Nessebar to Sofia, the organizers announced at the end of last year.
