Commemoration at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier

On the occasion of the European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, representatives of the public and the "Roma for Democracy" foundation gathered to honor the memory of those who perished in the death camps. Member of Parliament Marin Tihomirov emphasized that human life is sacred and the atrocities of the past must not be forgotten.

"We must remind the world that what happened in Auschwitz must never be repeated again in human history," stated Tihomirov.

The lessons of history and the fight against discrimination

Miglena Mihaylova from "Roma for Democracy" recalled the tragic fate of the people murdered in the "Baraka" camp solely because of their origin. According to her, hatred and inequality are dangers that continue to threaten modern society.

Memory as a force for action

Alexandra Georgieva highlighted the absence of these historical facts from official narratives and textbooks. She called for active civic participation and the defense of human rights so that the victims are not forgotten. The commemoration concluded with the laying of flowers and a minute of silence in memory of the innocently perished.
