Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and representatives of the teachers' unions in Burgas signed an addendum to the Collective Labor Agreement in the field of education. The document outlines better working conditions and pay in educational institutions.
According to the unions, the new addendum does not represent a retreat from previous achievements, and despite the difficulties, there is a small increase in individual parameters for yet another year.
“With the new addendum, we index the additional labor remuneration, as ours are higher than the national agreements. What we have achieved is due to the good partnership with the unions and the directors and with everyone involved in Burgas education, in order to continue the upward trend in improving the conditions and pay in educational institutions”, said Mayor Dimitar Nikolov during the meeting.
In line with the policy of Burgas Municipality to support and develop the academic staff and employees in education, the additional remuneration for teachers with an educational and scientific degree of “doctor” and “doctor of sciences” is increased by 5%, for teaching subjects in a foreign language, and for mentoring teachers. For class teachers for consulting parents and students and keeping the documentation of the respective class, for working with children with special educational needs, as well as the additional hours above the standard for compulsory teaching work are also increased compared to the national CLA.
The new addendum comes into effect from 01.01.2026, and the actual payment of the increased additional remuneration will begin after receiving additional funds from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Science.
During the meeting, Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and the representatives of the teachers' unions also discussed issues related to the development of education, the construction of innovative STEM centers in schools, and the improvement of educational infrastructure.
The signing of the addendum to the CLA was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Education, Healthcare, Social Activities and Youth Policies Mihail Nenov, the Director of the "Education" Directorate in Burgas Municipality Katya Misheva, the Chairman of the Municipal Organization of the Union of Employers in the System of National Education in Bulgaria Pavel Chepov, the Chairman of the Municipal Organization of the Association of Directors in Secondary Education in the Republic of Bulgaria /SDSORB/ Rositsa Pencheva, the Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Teachers to KNSB Konstantin Yankov, and the Chairman of the Regional Union “Education” to KT “Support” Ognyan Marinov.
