In a visibly tense atmosphere, typical for a routine police check, officers from the "Road Police" sector at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Burgas stumbled upon an unexpected turn. On October 20th, around 00:20 a.m., on "Stefan Stambolov" Blvd. near №73, their attention was drawn to a "Volkswagen Touareg" car with a Burgas registration. When the driver, a 60-year-old resident of Burgas, was preparing to provide his documents for inspection, a small bag fell from his hands or from the car.
Before the eyes of the officers, a small bag appeared on the road surface, containing a white crystalline substance. The quick field drug test showed a positive reaction for methamphetamine. Despite the driver's denial that the bag belonged to him, further tests for alcohol and drugs followed. The results left no doubt - the samples were positive, with 1.09 per mille of alcohol and cocaine detected.
The police reaction was immediate. The driver was detained with a police order for a period of up to 24 hours, and the car was seized. A fast-track investigation was initiated in the case.
The news, which went around the city, was complemented by two more news items about people detained with drugs.
In connection with these events, officers from the Second Police Department - Burgas conducted a search in a dwelling located in bl. 39 in the "Bratya Miladinovi" residential complex. The apartment, inhabited by a 41-year-old criminal from Burgas, turned out to be a warehouse of prohibited substances. The police found and seized two small bags containing a white crystalline substance, identified as methamphetamine, as well as two small bags containing a brown crystalline substance, also methamphetamine. In addition, a bag with dry green herbal mass - marijuana - with a total weight of about 5 grams, and three small boxes containing a white crystalline substance, again methamphetamine, were found. The total amount of methamphetamine found was about 20 grams. The resident of the apartment was detained for a period of up to 24 hours. Work on the case continues with full force.
The same day, around 4:00 p.m., in the area of bl. 82 in the "Slaveykov" residential complex, officers from the Second Police Department - Burgas conducted a check on a 25-year-old criminal from Burgas. As a result of the check, two small bags with inflorescences of dry green herbal mass - marijuana - with a total weight of about 50 grams were found and seized. The person is detained for a period of up to 24 hours, and a fast-track investigation has been initiated in the case.
