National Mission for the Protection of Bulgarian Forests
The Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) has launched the large-scale initiative "Protect the Green Tomorrow". The campaign aims to turn the prevention of forest fires into a shared public cause, engaging institutions, athletes, and citizens.
"Let us spark the flame of responsibility together, rather than a fire in the forest," urged Minister Rositsa Karamfilova.
"30 Seconds for Nature" – Leading by Example
As part of the campaign, a series of short videos is being produced, showing how small actions—such as putting out a cigarette or handling fire with caution—can save entire ecosystems. The world mountain running champion Veradina Nacheva is participating in the initiative, becoming the first ambassador of the cause.
Technology in Aid of Nature
In addition to education and personal example, firefighting is being modernized through technology. The General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDFSPP) is set to commission 84 drones for more effective monitoring and assessment of situations during disasters.
- Every citizen is responsible for the protection of Bulgarian nature.
- Prevention begins with attention to detail while spending time in the mountains.
- Technologies (drones) will improve the response to fires as they occur.
