A significant number of patients in the country already have access to their electronic protocols for expensive medicinal products, stored in the National Health Information System (NHIS). The data for these protocols, issued by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), as well as the current prescriptions of medicines, can be tracked through the mobile application eHealth and the web portal my.his.bg.

The new functionality, activated with an update of the application on June 16, 2025, will allow patients to monitor the processes of prescribing and approving protocols for home medication treatment. This will give people the opportunity to get more directly involved in the control over the spending of public funds for healthcare.

At the same time, the joint efforts of the management of the NHIF, the Ministry of Health and Information Service JSC continue to transfer all data on immunizations from the systems of the Health Insurance Fund to the NHIS. This process started in the middle of April 2025 and will be completed by October 8, 2025, in connection with changes in the Health Insurance Act that came into force the previous year.
