On today's Holy Thursday, the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniel will celebrate the Liturgy of Saint Basil in the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Great Martyr Nedelya in Sofia, the Bulgarian Patriarchate announced.
On Holy Thursday, the events surrounding the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the apostles are remembered, which is called the "Last Supper" because of the sacrament of the Eucharist established on it. He washed the feet of the disciples, established the Holy Eucharist, had an important farewell conversation with the apostles, and said the high-priestly prayer. Christ went out with the disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane, was captured and taken under guard to be judged.
For another year, the Sofia Holy Metropolis organizes the traditional dyeing of Easter eggs, combined with sports games, called "Feast of the Orthodox Spirit and Traditions." The event starts at 10:00 a.m. on St. Nedelya Square, the Metropolis announced.
