In connection with the increase of traffic safety on motorway I-5 between Stara Zagora and Kazanlak, a repair of the 5-kilometer section between Stara Zagora and Zmeyovo will begin on May 30. Initially, the lane towards Stara Zagora will be renewed, and then the other one. These activities are part of the implementation of the Action Plan for securing the sections with a concentration of road accidents.

During the repair works, the traffic on the motorway in the Stara Zagora - Zmeyovo section (from km 220 to km 225) will be two-way in the lane towards Kazanlak. After the completion of the activities, the traffic will move to the lane towards Stara Zagora, and the traffic towards Kazanlak will be restricted. Passing through the section will be regulated with road signs, and a traffic light system will be installed in the area of the Roman Bridge at km 222, where vehicles will move in one lane with waiting.

The repair work is expected to be completed by the end of June. Road signs have already been installed on the road in May to draw the attention of drivers and increase traffic safety.

The Road Infrastructure Agency calls on drivers to strictly observe the installed road signs, drive carefully, at an appropriate speed and not attempt risky overtaking. A map of the sections with a concentration of road accidents, as well as an Action Plan for securing these sections, is published on the agency's website.
