Updating the Republican Road Network in Burgas Region
Active activities are underway in the Burgas region to asphalt sections of the republican road network, which will be part of the route of the international cycling tour of Italy (Giro d'Italia). The repair covers nearly 140 km of road signage in the region.
Maintenance activities are aimed at improving the safety and quality of the road construction on key sections.
Where exactly are the repairs being carried out?
The work is divided into three main directions:
- Road I-6: The section after the village of Lozenets to the village of Vetren (from the 428th to the 485th km);
- Road I-9: The section from Aheloy to Sarafovo (from the 215th to the 229th km);
- Road II-99: Second-class road between Kraimorie and Alepu (from km 0 to km 28).
What do the maintenance activities include?
Work is being carried out strictly according to schedule at all sites. The process is not limited to just laying new asphalt, but includes a complete repair of the infrastructure:
- Milling of the old asphalt surface;
- Performing the necessary improvements to the road construction;
- Removal of excess roadside vegetation;
- Cleaning of ditches and roadside areas to improve drainage and visibility;
- Shaping and strengthening of the shoulder;
- Restoration of drainage facilities.
Currently, the asphalting process is underway in the three sections. After the completion of this stage, new road markings will be made.
Completion Date
The repair of these critical sections, which are part of the international cycling route, is expected to be completed by the end of April. The execution of the activities has been assigned to the road maintenance company, working under a contract with the 'Road Infrastructure Agency' (RIA).
