The commissions that register candidates for participation in various elections, according to the Electoral Code, will provide the Dossier Commission with specific information, specifying the full names, the unified civil number, and which party, coalition or initiative committee each registered candidate is nominated by. This was decided on second reading by the parliament with adopted amendments to the Law on Access to and Disclosure of Documents and on the Declaration of Affiliation of Bulgarian Citizens to State Security and the Intelligence Services of the Bulgarian People's Army.
The proposers of the only amendment are Martin Dimitrov from “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” and a group of Members of Parliament.
In his motivations, Dimitrov points out that in June 2024 during the elections for the National Assembly, the Central Election Commission initially sent a blank sheet to the Dossier Commission, and subsequently incomplete data on the candidates for Members of Parliament. This prevented the commission from carrying out its activity of checking the candidates for MPs. The proposal, which is made with this bill, aims to clearly specify the obligation of the commissions that register the candidates for members to participate in various elections, the proposers point out.
