The Parliament rejected the President's veto and re-adopted, on second reading, the disputed amendments to the Election Code (EC). The motives of the head of state, Iliana Iotova, for imposing the veto are mainly related to the texts that limit to 20 the number of sections outside diplomatic and consular missions in countries that are not in the European Union.

126 Members of Parliament supported the amendments to the Election Code, 86 were against, and 11 MPs abstained.
