The members of parliament adopted important legislative corrections in the field of professional recognition of medical qualifications. During the first reading, the deputies supported the project with impressive parliamentary support - 137 votes "in favor", none "against" and only three "abstained".

The proposed changes are aimed at creating an opportunity for automatic recognition of the professional qualification of nurses who have undergone specialized training in Romania. The bill aims to fully comply with the minimum qualification requirements laid down in Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Union.

The document transposes Directive (EU) 2024/505 and fulfills a specific commitment from the 2025 Action Plan. In addition, the bill updates the qualification standards for nurses, dentists, and pharmacists, specifying the necessary knowledge and skills that should be acquired during training.

In parallel, the provisions of Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/782, which is directly related to measure 151 of the Action Plan, are being introduced. Experts from the parliamentary education committee emphasize that the amendments are part of the process of harmonizing national legislation with European requirements.
