The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a second-degree warning - orange code, for strong and stormy northwesterly winds in 12 regions of the country with gusts between 25 m/s and 30 m/s.

Orange code has been declared for the regions of Vidin, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Lovech, Sliven, Gabrovo, Sofia-region, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad and Montana.

With an orange code for strong wind, we should be prepared for structural damage, uprooted trees, and the risk of injuries from flying objects. Disruptions in the power supply are possible.

The Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross announced negative temperatures in the mountains and strong to hurricane-force winds, in places over 100 km/h. Temperatures are negative, there is fog, and conditions for tourism are bad. Many of the facilities in the high mountains will not be operating because of the wind. There is also a risk of avalanches in some places.
