Dangerous bacteria in the sea near Varna
The Regional Health Inspection (RZI) has issued an urgent recommendation for a temporary suspension of swimming at Officer's Beach in Varna. The reason is the alarming results from the latest monitoring of seawater quality.
"Tests show elevated levels of E. coli and intestinal enterococci, which pose a real health risk to beachgoers," the inspection warns.
What measures have been taken?
- An official directive has been sent to the regional governor for urgent hygienic and anti-epidemic measures.
- Installation of clearly visible signs with the inscription "Swimming is temporarily not permitted" in the beach area.
- Increased control over water quality in the area.
Health authorities advise citizens to strictly observe the ban until the indicators return to normal, in order to avoid gastrointestinal and infectious diseases.
