The weather forecast for today predicts extremely hot weather conditions with a first-degree warning, covering thirteen administrative regions in Bulgaria. The official announcement from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) signals potential risks of high temperatures.
Meteorologists forecast a predominantly sunny day with intense sunlight. In the afternoon, cumulus clouds are expected to develop over mountain massifs, with local precipitation and short-term thunderstorms possible only in certain parts of Southwestern Bulgaria.
The wind will be weak, with moderate intensity in the Danube Plain and Southeastern Bulgaria, characterized by an east-northeast direction. Temperature values will reach critical levels between 32 and 37 degrees, with around 33 degrees expected in the capital.
Mountain areas will experience similar meteorological conditions - predominantly sunny weather with possible afternoon cumulus clouds. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from the north-northeast. At an altitude of 1200 meters, the temperature will reach around 26 degrees, while at 2000 meters, around 20 degrees are expected.
The Black Sea coast will be dominated by sunny weather with a moderate northeast wind. Maximum temperatures at sea will vary between 28-30 degrees, with water temperatures of 26-27 degrees and wave heights of 2-3 points.
For tomorrow, August 13, NIMH has already issued a first-degree warning for high temperatures in ten regions of the country.
