A queue of around 15 kilometers of freight vehicles is forming on the Maritsa motorway before the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, a BTA reporter witnessed. The problem with the heavy traffic through the checkpoint has been ongoing for more than a week.
Police presence and traffic control on the motorway have been increased. In places, the column is double, travelers told BTA.
The freight vehicles processed through the Kapitan Andreevo customs point in the last 24 hours were 3066 - 1466 on entry and 1600 on exit, the Customs Agency reported in its daily information on traffic through our three largest checkpoints. This is the largest number of processed trucks in 24 hours since the beginning of the year.
On Friday, the congestion on the motorway was 16 kilometers long, and the previous day it reached about 25 kilometers, with drivers waiting between 15 and 20 hours for processing and passage.
On the same day, a working meeting of Bulgarian and Turkish customs officials took place at the adjacent Turkish border checkpoint Kapıkule, at which measures were outlined to create an organization to accelerate the processing of freight vehicles.
