Smuggled goods seized at Lesovo Border Checkpoint
During a specialized inspection at the Lesovo Border Checkpoint, a joint operation between the Customs Agency and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) prevented the import of illegal veterinary medicinal products.
The products were intended for vaccination against sheep and goat pox but were being transported without the necessary documents and permits.
Case details
- Route: The vehicle with Romanian registration was traveling from Turkey to Romania.
- Hiding place: The smuggled shipment was discovered in a cardboard box and a thermal container under the front seat of the vehicle.
- Quantity: A total of 70 packages – 35 vials of 100 doses of vaccine and 35 units of diluent.
The veterinary preparations have been confiscated, and the BFSA has taken over the case for further administrative action. Authorities remind that border control has been strengthened, especially in the context of biosecurity measures and the prevention of dangerous animal diseases.
