Candidates for European Prosecutor from Bulgaria Approved: Who Are They?

The caretaker government has approved the three candidates for European Prosecutor from Bulgaria. Their selection by the European Selection Committee is forthcoming, followed by a choice and appointment by the Council of the EU.

The caretaker government approved the three candidates for European Prosecutor from Bulgaria - Dimitar Belichev, Mihaela Raydovska, and Plamen Petkov.

Dimitar Belichev is a prosecutor in the Plovdiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Mihaela Raydovska is a prosecutor in the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, and both are European delegated prosecutors. Plamen Petkov is a prosecutor in the Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The caretaker Minister of Justice, Georgi Georgiev, must send the nominations to the Selection Committee, which will make an assessment. After that, the Council of the European Union will choose one of the candidates.

The national procedure included a document check and a public hearing of the candidates on January 14th. The commission that heard the candidates included representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Judicial Council, and Sofia University.
