The grades for the first term of the 2025/2026 school year will be finalized by January 30th, regardless of the online learning due to the flu epidemic, assured Asen Alexandrov, chairman of the Association of School Principals in secondary education in Bulgaria.
According to him, teachers have enough time and methods for evaluating students, including observations, homework, and overall performance. Class assignments are usually conducted before January, and distance learning can include projects as an assessment criterion.
Alexandrov emphasized that students have a minimum of two grades per subject for the term, covering the period from September 15th. Online learning should not interfere with the grading, as teachers have the opportunity to assign grades based on other criteria, including projects, which can be for all subjects.
Varna region has already switched to online learning from January 14th, which will continue until January 20th, inclusive. The second school term begins on February 3rd, and the break between terms is three days.
