Training of a Volunteer Formation in Sozopol: Preparing for Disaster Response

The Municipality of Sozopol conducted training for the volunteer formation, covering topics such as actions during disasters, fires, floods, earthquakes, and forest fires. The training was conducted by an expert and coordinated with the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population and the Academy of the Ministry of Interior.

The training covered key topics such as participation in disaster relief, hazardous factors for humans in fires, tactical actions during rescue operations, responses to floods, heavy snowfall, and earthquakes, as well as working on fires in grain fields and forest areas.

The training was led by Hristo Mihailov – former head of the fire department in Sozopol and a lecturer at the Burgas Free University (BSU). The topics and content of the training materials have been coordinated with the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" and the rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Interior – a guarantee of a high level of preparation.

According to the category of Sozopol Municipality, our voluntary formation consists of 20 people - prepared and trained to help the population in disasters and emergency situations.
